LANGKAWI, July 5 (Bernama) — Rembau Member of Parliament Khairy Jamaluddin is leaving it to his lawyer whether to take action against blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin for alleging that he had in his possession a military report on the murder of Mongolian translator Altantuya Shaariibuu.
Khairy, however, said he had to study the implications first as it involved many procedures.
“I leave it to my lawyers to study and consider whether such an action is appropriate,” he told reporters after attending the Ayer Hangat state constituency traditional games at Tanjung Rhu here Saturday.
Khairy denied having the report and had given his statement to Putrajaya police on June 24.
In his statutory declaration on June 18, Raja Petra, the editor of news portal Malaysia Today, claimed that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had received a written military report on the murder which he handed over to his son-in-law Khairy for “safe-keeping.”
Abdullah had also refuted the allegation.
